Wounds, Injuries and Healing

Disabled:

When a PC (or monster, but generally no one cares) is reduced to exactly 0 HP, he or she is disabled. They may take only a single move or standard action each turn. No full-round actions may be taken. If the action taken is strenuous, the PC takes 1 point of damage after the action is taken, and is then dying. Healing that raises a PC from 0 to positive HP makes them fully functional again. They do NOT enter the walking wounded state.

A PC who has gone below 0 HP and is healed to 0 exactly is disabled. However, if they are then healed above 0, they are considered Walking Wounded until they take an 8 hour rest.

Dying:

When a character's HP drop below 0, but up to -9 HP, they are dying. A dying character is unconscious and can take no actions. They lose 1 HP per round until they are dead (at -10HP) or become stable.

Stable:

On the turn after a character is reduced below 0 but above -10, and on all subsequent turns, roll d% to see if they stabilize. A character has a %chance = to 10+CON bonus to become stable. Once stable, a character remains unconscious, but heals 1 HP per 24 hours. Eventually if they do not die for other reasons, they will heal naturally and return to consciousness at 0 HP.

Walking Wounded:

When a PC has fallen below 0 HP but then heals (either naturally over time or via magic) to 0 or above, they are not instantly well. Instead, until they have had 8 hours of good rest while under the care of a healer (successful heal check DC 15 - long term care) they remain in a walking wounded condition, similar to being disabled. They can make a single move or standard action per round, cannot attack, and automatically fail all Fort or Ref saves. If they force themselves to make a full round action, or attack or do any other stressful activity, they immediately collapse into unconsciousness and begin losing 1 HP per round. They continue to do so until they receive magical healing or are successfully treated for 1 day by a healer. (Note: this is the ONLY time a PC can have a positive HP total but be unconscious, bleeding out, and unable to act purely from non-magical combat wounds).
