CamberwellVillage of CamberwellReturn to Harothar
This village consists of about 120 folk in the village proper and nearby farms. They are mostly human with a smattering of hobytlan (two extended families). The village is under the military protection of Haroth, and a patrol comes by every 3-5 days. They are about 1 full day’s walk south from Harothport. (Map p58, Village book 1)

Who knows what about Argent? The tavern-keeper knows someone lives up on the “haunted hill” but assumes it is an old hermit or ranger or possibly a druid. He doesn’t realize it was Heon, though he knows Heon has moved into the area somewhere. He also knows who Argent is, but not by that name. Argent goes by Gerard Silverbow; he claims to be a messenger for a mercantile guild (unspecified). He keeps a horse at Camber farm for a few days at a time when he comes through.
The shop-keeper may confide that the locals think Gerard must be a smuggler; what else would bring him out here? But what he smuggles and from where, they have no clue.
Mayor Camber will refuse to discuss “Silverbow’s business” with the PCs until coerced, charmed or given to understand that Gerard may be involved in treachery to the Kingdom. In that case, he explains that Gerard told him he is meeting secretly with men of Greenvale up on the Haunted Hill, setting up long-term trade terms for his mercantile masters. The secrecy is so his competitors don’t discover and undermine the negotiations. Silverbow has hinted that if the trade talks go well, Camberwell could benefit immensely from increased trade from the South. |
